4 ways to improve your skin

Want better skin? We’ve got your back. Clear, healthy, glowing skin will have your friends begging for your skincare tips and tricks.

New years resolutions have come, and unfortunately, some have already gone out the window. On average, it takes about 66 days to form a new habit, and we’re here to keep everyone on track! If your skincare resolution has been embraced and discarded, don’t be discouraged! A new skincare routine can be hard to get into, but the results of good looking, healthy skin are worth the hard work.

1. Take off your makeup before bedtime
This one might seem like a no-brainer, but this is an easy and important step that every makeup-wearer needs to follow immediately. If you have trouble remembering, try adding this step on right after one of your existing nighttime rituals. For example, after you change into your pajamas, take off your makeup.

Leaving your makeup on overnight not only clogs your pores, allowing dirt to seep in overnight, but it makes your pillow dirty for the nights you do remember to wash your face before bedtime.

2. Stop drinking fat-free milk
Skim milk has a lot of appeal, especially to those trying to keep a slim waistline. But, according to researchers, there is a correlation between acne and skim milk. Instead of reaching for fat-free milk, go for an alternative, such as almond milk. It’s tasty, rich in vitamins, and still low-calorie. We love adding it in our morning coffee!

3. Moisturize
We can’t stress this one enough; moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! There is a common misconception among people with acne that moisturizing will cause breakouts, but that’s not necessarily true. The key for moisturizing acne-prone skin is balance. Use a light moisturizer that hydrates your skin, but doesn’t make facial skin feel greasy all day long.

To prevent repeated breakouts it is essential not only to deliver blemish-fighting agents deep within skin layers, but also to hydrate dry skin in order to heal, strengthen, and safeguard its natural protective barrier.

4. Use a spot-treatment serum to eliminate blackheads
Oh blackheads, how we loathe you! If you are prone to blackheads, apply a spot-treatment serum to the area before you go to bed each night. The serum digs deep to un-clog pores, making your skin look healthy, clear, and smooth.
